The first VIPS opens a new chapter at One Grove

VIPS, which first opened its doors in Seoul's Deungchon-dong in 1997, was Korea's first western-style family restaurant brand. Launched by CJ Group Chairman Lee Jay Hyun through his CheilJedang Food Division (now CJ Foodville), the brand was born with the philosophy of offering a new dining experience that went beyond just eating out. The brand quickly gained popularity by introducing the concept of a 'salad bar' to Korea, offering steaks, sauces and various buffet menus tailored to Korean tastes. Since then, through the 2000s, including the separation from Japanese distributor Skylark and the spin-off of CJ Foodville, VIPS has established itself as an independent brand, continuously developing its menu and renewing its brand identity (BI) with the aim of becoming a premium steakhouse. After more than 20 years and over 200 million guests, VIPS is now the leader in "premium steak & seasonal salad bars" and an iconic symbol of family dining.
